How the record works

We record the deal. We don't enforce it.

KollabMe never touches the money. What it keeps is the record: the terms you both saw, the thread with its dates, and whether both of you confirmed the work was done. Here is what that record shows, what it doesn't, and how to use it if a payment goes wrong.

The short version

What KollabMe does, and what it doesn't.

KollabMe does

  • Puts the terms on a card in the chat: the rate or the split, the date and your note.
  • Shows whether the other person accepted, declined or never answered.
  • Keeps the thread: every message, voice memo and file, under the date it was sent.
  • Closes a collab only when one of you marks it complete and the other confirms.
  • For a beat licence, records the files promised, the credit term, the delivery and whether the buyer confirmed the files.
  • Reads reports and acts on accounts that scam or break the Community Guidelines.

KollabMe doesn't

  • Hold, move or refund money. Payment happens off the app, between the two of you.
  • Confirm that a payment happened. Your payment app’s receipt is the proof of that.
  • Decide who is right, or make anyone pay or deliver.
  • Act as a signed contract. It is a record of what each of you sent and tapped.
  • Check that a beat is cleared, or that the person selling it owns it.

What it proves

What the record can show someone, and what it can't.

It shows what was agreed, in both of your words, with dates. The request carries the rate or the split, the date and the note. The other person's tap on Accept is on the record, and so is every message you traded about the work. That is usually the thing a payment dispute turns on: what did the two of you actually agree?

It shows how the work ended. A collab is only marked completed when one of you marks it complete and the other confirms. Nobody can confirm their own. A request that was declined, cancelled or left unanswered shows that too.

It does not show that money moved. KollabMe never processes a payment, so nothing in the app says you paid. The receipt from the app or card you paid with is the proof of payment. The KollabMe record is the proof of what the payment was for. You want both. Even the Price paid line on a finished beat licence is the agreed price, not a check that the money arrived.

It is not a signed contract. It is a record of what each of you sent and tapped. For anything with long-term money attached, like a writing split, use a split sheet or a feature agreement as well.

It does not check rights. A beat listing says whether it has samples and whether they are cleared, and the producer confirms it is theirs to license. That is their statement, not a check KollabMe runs.

Using it in a dispute

If you paid and didn't get what you agreed.

  1. 1

    Ask in the thread first

Say what was agreed and what is missing, in the same chat. Venmo and PayPal both ask you to try the seller before you file, and that message becomes part of the record.

  2. 2

    Screenshot the record

The request card, the collab's details screen with its status and dates, and the messages where the work was agreed. Tap a message to show its time before you capture it.

  3. 3

    Get your payment receipt

From the app or card you paid with: the date, the amount and who received it. The receipt shows the payment. The record shows what it was for.

  4. 4

    File inside the window

Each payment method has its own place to file and its own deadline. Attach both the receipt and the screenshots.

Checked September 24, 2026. Each company decides its own claims, and its current terms beat anything written here. The record helps you show what happened. It does not decide the outcome.

If you are the one who delivered

A buyer can dispute a card or PayPal payment after you have delivered. PayPal's Seller Protection program asks sellers of digital goods for a record of when the files were sent and that they went to, or were opened by, the buyer (PayPal Seller Protection terms). Venmo asks sellers to keep documentation of each sale. On a KollabMe beat licence, the delivery sits on the licence and the buyer either confirms the files or flags a problem. Screenshot that, along with the terms you both saw.

When something goes wrong

What KollabMe can do.

  • Read your report. Press and hold a message to report it, report the person from the chat menu or their profile, or report a licence's files as never arrived or the wrong format. A person reads it.
  • Act on the account. The Community Guidelines ban fraud and scams. Breaking them can mean content removal, a suspension or a permanent ban.
  • Return money or force a delivery. Only the payment method you used can reverse a payment, and disagreements over the work itself are between the two of you.

FAQ

The record, answered.

Is a collab request a contract?

No. It is a timestamped record of what each of you offered, accepted and confirmed in the app. For anything with long-term money attached, like a writing split, sign a split sheet as well.

Does KollabMe hold my payment?

No. KollabMe never holds, moves or processes money, so there is no escrow and nothing for it to refund. You pay each other directly, however you both agree.

Can KollabMe get my money back?

No. Only the payment app, card company or bank you paid with can reverse a payment. KollabMe’s record helps you show them what was agreed and what happened, and KollabMe can act on the other person’s account if they broke the Community Guidelines.

Can I export the record?

Not as a file yet. Screenshot the request card, the collab’s details screen and the messages that matter, and keep the images somewhere of your own.

Does the record show that I paid?

No. The app never touches the payment, so it cannot confirm one. A finished beat licence labels its price as Price paid, but that is the agreed price, not a check that money arrived. Pair the KollabMe record with the receipt from the app or card you paid with.
