A Fiverr alternative for the collaborator you will work with more than once.
Fiverr is a marketplace for buying a finished thing from someone you will probably never speak to again: a master, a mix, a verse, a session part, at a listed price, with Fiverr holding the money until it is delivered. For a one-off with a stranger, that is a fair trade. KollabMe is for the other kind of work. You hear the producer or the vocalist before you reach out, agree the rate or the split in the thread, and both confirm when it is done. No cut, because KollabMe never touches the money.

What Fiverr is
Fiverr is a marketplace for fixed-price services. A seller lists a gig with packages and prices, the buyer orders and pays Fiverr up front, and Fiverr releases the money to the seller once the order is delivered. Music and audio is one category among many: mixing, mastering, beats, vocals, session parts, cover art, video editing. Per a July 2026 third-party guide (Fiverr's own help page on fees was not reachable when we checked), sellers pay 20% of the order value and buyers pay a 5.5% service fee plus $3.50 on orders under $200. Fiverr's own second quarter 2026 results put its trailing take rate at 28% and its active buyers at 2.7 million. Sellers build ratings and levels from completed orders, and the deal is one-directional: a buyer pays a seller for a deliverable. There is no co-writer credit, no split, and no way to settle off the platform.
Side by side
| Fiverr | KollabMe | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A marketplace for fixed-price services across every category, with a music and audio section. | A network for finding and working with music collaborators by role, genre, activity and distance. |
| Who is on it | Sellers offering mixes, masters, beats, vocals, session parts, artwork and video edits, and buyers who want a deliverable, not a collaborator. Fiverr reported 2.7 million active buyers across all categories in Q2 2026. | Artists, musicians, producers, engineers, photographers, videographers, studios and venues. Anyone can join. |
| Fees | Sellers pay 20% of the order. Buyers pay 5.5% plus $3.50 on orders under $200, per a July 2026 third-party guide. A $150 mix costs the buyer about $161.75 and the seller keeps $120. | No commission. The rate or split is agreed in the chat on a Collab Request card and settles between the two of you. KollabMe never holds the money. |
| How you find people | Search the category, filter by price, delivery time and seller level, read reviews, order. | A match deck ranked by role fit, genre, activity, distance and KollabScore, plus a Feed of Gigs, Collabs, Gear and Showcase posts. |
| Hearing work before you contact | Gig pages carry samples the seller chose to upload. You contact a seller through Fiverr's inbox or order directly. | Tracks play on the card in the deck and beats play on the Beats card, so you hear the work before you reach out. Then it is a chat, not an order form. |
| Payment and protection | You pay Fiverr up front. Fiverr holds the money and releases it after delivery. Order problems go through Fiverr, and its fee pays for that. | KollabMe never holds or processes payments. There is no escrow and no dispute arbitration. The record is the agreed terms, the timestamped thread and a two-sided completion confirmation. |
| Credits and splits | Not part of the model. A gig is a paid deliverable. There is no co-writer credit, no split and no way to record a $0 collab. | The Collab Request card carries a rate or a split, including $0 plus a split. Beat listings carry a credit flag. Put long-term splits on a split sheet as well. |
| Reputation | Star ratings, written reviews and seller levels earned from completed orders on Fiverr. | KollabScore, built from activity and completed collabs, plus the completion record on each thread. |
| Visual roles | Cover art, photo retouching and video editing sell as remote gigs. Booking a photographer or a room in your city is not what it is for. | Built in. Photographers and videographers match the same way as producers. Studios and venues list in Spaces with published rates and a walk-ins flag. |

Pick Fiverr when
- You need a one-off mix or master from someone you will never meet, and you want the platform to hold the money until it lands.
- You are a buyer who wants a fixed price, a delivery date and a dispute process, and you are happy to pay the service fee for it.
- You already sell on Fiverr and your clients there are working out. Keep them there. KollabMe is for the people you have not met yet.
Pick KollabMe when
- You want the producer, the vocalist or the engineer you will work with again, in your genre, near you.
- You want to hear the work first, then agree the rate or the split in a conversation instead of ordering a package.
- The deal is a split, a $0 collab for a credit, or anything else a fixed-price order form cannot hold.
Fiverr or KollabMe, answered.
Is KollabMe free?
KollabMe is free to join. Paid plans are on the roadmap but are not live. Rates and splits are set between collaborators, not by KollabMe.
Does KollabMe take a commission like Fiverr does?
No. KollabMe never holds or processes the payment, so there is nothing to take 20% of. The rate or split is agreed on a Collab Request card in the chat and settles directly between the two of you, on whatever app you both already use.
Does KollabMe protect me the way Fiverr does?
Not in the same way. Fiverr holds the money and runs a dispute process, and its fee pays for that. KollabMe does neither. What you get is a record: the terms on the card, the timestamped thread and a completion both of you confirm. That record is evidence of what was agreed, which is usually what a payment dispute turns on, but KollabMe cannot refund you or make anyone deliver. For a stranger and a one-off, Fiverr's protection may be worth the fee.
Can I use Fiverr and KollabMe together?
Yes. Plenty of people should. Buy a one-off master on Fiverr when you want the platform in the middle, and use KollabMe for the producer, vocalist, photographer and studio you will work with more than once. If you sell on Fiverr, keep your Fiverr clients on Fiverr.
